  • I don't know if anyone saw this, but there's a very good chance you'd be able to catch me in the background. I was in attendance on the queen when Mr. Willard came forward with his basket of "fries" "From France!" (as Dre said). I was dressed, of course, in my old teal Lancaster doublet, not my Irish duds, which I sold to one of the new O'Neills a few years back.

And it's possible they edited me out, but I'd be interested in knowing...

    My 30 seconds of fame...
    • I still have it saved on the DVR box, so I'll have to watch it again and see if we can see you. :)

Eventhough GA's are so close to us, I didn't see you once this weekend. We'll have to make sure that we stop by and say hi next week.
      • Jenny, you might have missed me since I'm sporting a new costume this year. Still the same character - I just look prettier.

I'll be over visiting St. Mike's this Saturday. AJ has graciously invited me to be his guest at the Military Officer's Dinner. As a result, I'm actually free during Battle Pageant so I can come over and watch the show. I'll have to swing by and say hi.

The downside of being a GA is that I'm rarely in camp, as we spend most of our time in the streets. The upside is that I spend most of my time in the streets, which I LOVE. It's for that (well...that and the swordfighting) that I left the O'Neills. But I still love you all.

I keep trying to work some gigs out between our folks and the O'Neills. We have a few veterans of the Irish wars in the GAs and a few characters who probably played both sides - like "honest" merchants such as Martin Frobisher and myself.

It's always nice to see everyone at faire. One of the things I miss about the lack of after-hours is the lack of chance to socialize with friends. I'll look for you this weeknd!

        See you then!
        • Well then we will see you (and your new pretty costume) on Saturday then. Joe has a new pretty more historical Irish coat this year, as well.

We would absolutely LOVE gigging with the GA's more. Joe really really wants to do a lot more gigging. We were sad to hear that you no longer have a John Norreys in GA, as he was the one who captained the massacre on Rathlin Island in 1575 that killed Joe's character (Sir James MacSorley MacDonnell's) mother and brothers and family. So that would have made for a fun angry confrontation. From what I have heard most of your guys really know their history, so it would be a wonderful to work out some character connections between some of them and us. MacDonnell was another one who very ambitious and politicaly played all sides also.
          • What time are the Irish having their meals this season??

The English had to push back their lunch-period because of the "time-crunch" between Battle Pageant & Queen's Progress. Right now, we try to get our lunch in during the Queen's Joust after the first third of Progress.

Right now - it's just the English Officers in A.J's tent at the "front" of the Guildyard -- would be great to get all the other officers from the rest of the camps at the meal. (And it would take some of the spotlight off of us "lower-ranks" at the table)

It makes for interesting gigging as we're all eating when the nobles / household come over to rest during that.
            • Well, as it has been pointed out, us Irish are ALWAYS eating all throughout the day. We may be little in size, but we are big in food and weapons. :) We put out snacks after battle and then eat our actual lunch at the same time as the English, after the first part of progress. It would be fun for a gig if all of the officers from the groups ate lunch at an officers table together. I would just selfishly miss eating with my husband. :P
              • Apparently all of the officers did end up eating lunch together on Saturday. I heard that it was VERY crowded. I think that I heard that Joe and Frank had to sit on AJ's bed for lunch. Why is it so crowded, any idea? Is that when all of the nobles come by and hang out? Though I did hear that the Queen tried some of Joe's mead and loved it. :)

On a side note, we are thinking of having a mead making party this summer and make tons and tons of mead, so that it would be ready for faire next year. Anyone interested?
